How hypnotherapy works
We all have a huge resource available to us that can hold the solution to many presenting problems. This is the unconscious (or subconscious) mind. This part of the brain retains far more information than we are generally aware of and by tapping this source we can open the door to ways of solving problems that might seem difficult or impossible when tackled logically with the analytical (conscious) part of the mind. Over the course of our lives we accumulate, develop and learn patterns of behaviour. We learn what is safe, what is dangerous, what feels good and what does not. The information comes in via our senses and is stored for future reference. Memories are constructed of which some can be of great use to us and some can be the root of problems. Hypnosis enables us to access memories and thought processes that are held in the unconscious mind. By working in this way these positive changes can be made swiftly and be both profound and permanent. The patterns and processes of our thoughts are like roads in the brain, if we have a problem that seems to be with us all or most of the time then it is hard to stop and look at the alternative routes once we are speeding down the motorways of the mind. The A roads, B roads and even the un-made roads do not get a look in as we fly past. Once we are driving down the motorway it is difficult to read the map and find the way out – we just have to go with the flow. The more we use the motorways the harder it becomes to take an alternative route. Hypnosis provides the opportunity to alter these well-furrowed motorways and can give access to better routes of thinking. Once the problem memories and patterns have been “re-mapped” then we become able to create a new motorway, free of road works, contra-flows and accidents. It becomes the natural path instead of the exception along with a permanent and positive change in behaviour. Hypnotherapy uses the inherent power of the mind which we all possess as a means to resolve unwanted habits, behaviour, or to relieve symptoms.
